Precision design for Historical Buildings with Scan to BIM Technology
The missing and incomplete foundation poses a considerable challenge when building in existing buildings. In the case of old buildings in particular, the existing foundations often do not match the actual building stock. In addition, typical features such as "sloping walls," "warped ceilings" and "asymmetrical irregularities" make modern planning difficult, as these features cannot be measured using conventional methods or accurately reproduced in plan drawings.
The statement that "BIM-based design only works for new buildings" is not true. BIM can even be successfully used for existing buildings, provided the right BIM basis is available. With the help of Scan to BIM, we can now also precisely record existing buildings and map them with millimetre accuracy to create a modern and reliable planning basis.
