Design & assessment of overhead lines with PLS-CADD & Tower

Gruner provides engineering services for all aspects of energy transmission facility design using PLS-CADD. With this software, our engineers and designers are able to manage large-scale power transmission line projects. PLS-CADD program is the world leader in the development, design and maintenance of overhead transmission lines from 35 to 750 kV. PLS-CADD is a 3D environment for modeling of Over-Head Lines (OHL) allowing us to use any georeferenced data, including LiDAR, photogrammetry, maps, etc.

PLS-CADD allows you to create an overhead line model that will look “as built”. Engineering analysis based on PLS-CADD will allow you to increase the line reliability or increase the power transmission capacity. In many cases this will allow both.

Our company has been successfully carrying out transmission line projects in Switzerland and around the world since 2000. We have extensive experience in the use of PLS-CADD and can conduct comprehensive studies to examine all aspects of the design and technical-economic assessment of existing or new overhead lines (OHL).
Our services include all stages of design, from feasibility studies to commissioning. We offer OHL analysis of overhead lines using PLS-CADD, which involves digital terrain modeling from a Lidar topographic survey, overhead line modeling, and structural calculations. We also perform geometric, mechanical, electrical, and thermal assessments. Our expertise extends to the full assessment of existing assets, obsolescence analysis, modification and optimization of OHL, upgrading power transmission and voltage capacity, and the replacement of towers and wires, including the installation of optical fiber. Additionally, we provide works supervision.

 

In the study of electric towers, we use TOWER for modeling and calculations of existing or new towers. We offer expertise in assessing existing structures, conducting obsolescence studies, and analyzing corrosion. We also specialize in tower reinforcement and modification, as well as underground and aerial transition towers. Our services include the supervision of these works.

Furthermore, we focus on the optimization and improvement of OHL reliability. We provide modeling and 2D/3D drafting of OHL and towers, along with the analysis and design of tower foundations. Our comprehensive services extend to logistics and supply management, planning, and works supervision until commissioning.
