Revitalization and flood protection Alte Aare

The unique floodplain landscape of national importance of the Alte Aare was upgraded with a variety of ecological measures. At the same time, the flood protection of surrounding communities was improved. Measures: Realization of floodplains, reactivation and creation of side arms as flowing retention, new construction and repair of flood protection dams, revitalization of the Alte Aare over a total of 8 km by means of channel structuring with deadwood, creation and upgrading of amphibian waters, softwood floodplain forests, wet meadows, fens, pioneer sites, species-rich meadows, thinning of pine forests.
