pRED Center - Deconstruction Building 74

As part of the ‘pRed Centre’ project of F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, Building 74 on Grenzacherstrasse was demolished. Not only the enormous building volume and the large component dimensions, but also the tight schedule and the sensitive surroundings make the project a highlight. Gruner was entrusted with the project planning, realisation and construction management.

The project had a number of special features, such as the dismantling of the upper floors using the ‘floor by floor’ system. In addition, various types of securing had to be used, such as securing a permanent ELT duct at the edge of the excavation pit using steel brackets or securing the existing diaphragm wall using new anchors. In addition, the excavation pit was exceptionally deep (22 metres), which made it difficult to transport the material. The dismantling of the massive individual foundations was carried out by loosening blasting. One difficulty was coordinating the parallel work of the various trades. Construction management was carried out with the help of BIM to field.

Our services included the clearing out and gutting of the building, as well as the proper handling of building pollutants. In addition to dismantling the mineral structures, we also secured the existing structures.
