In the village centre of Möhlin, two detached houses are to be replaced by two residential and commercial buildings. The new buildings have 160m2 of commercial space as well as 5 owner-occupied and 4 rental flats. The shared car park, which offers 19 parking spaces, is on a slope and is directly accessible from both buildings.
House A has a height offset in the basement and is characterised by a pitched roof. House B is emphasised by the attic flat and the wooden façade, which was chosen to match the adjacent buildings.
One of the challenges of the project was the design of the ceiling above the car park using a joist as an intercepting ceiling. The load transfer of building B also had to be taken into account, as well as the most economical distribution of the earth loads from the surrounding area. In addition, securing the slope and the construction site posed a further challenge, as the construction site borders on the main road. In this case, construction logs were used for this purpose.
Our services for the project included the structural design and the above-mentioned construction pit stabilisation. We also took on the project planning and realisation of the project.
