In 2014 Konapharma will expand its production and office building in the industrial area of Pratteln, built in 2008.
The new building was constructed with two basement floors, while the existing building has only one basement floor. Therefore the existing building had to be underpinned by about 6 m. Micropiles and a nail wall were used to underpin the existing building in order to minimize subsidence. The remaining excavation pit was secured by nail walls. The building consists of a reinforced concrete structure constructed on site. The roof centre was constructed using a lightweight steel construction.
The biggest challenge of this exciting project was the extremely tight schedule for planning and execution. The planning started in January, the execution of the excavation pit took place in the same year from April to June, and the building construction was erected from June to December 2014.
