The Areuse station (transN line 215) in Boudry (NE) has been given a facelift. As part of the project to bring the station into compliance with the LHand standard, Gruner SA acted as specialist civil engineering and track contractor for SIA phases 41 to 53.
The main works took place from May to September 2023, during which time rail traffic had to be completely interrupted.
The station was completely renewed to allow access for people with reduced mobility and to accommodate the new geometry of the future rolling stock (PEL OCF A). The main work carried out was as follows:
- Demolition of platforms, removal and dismantling of existing tracks (1,310p sleepers, 1,588m rail length);
- Construction of new platforms and access ramps;
- Renewal of rail infrastructure;
- Renewal of railway superstructure (920m3 ballast, 1'285 sleepers and 1'476m rail length) with laying of new tracks, including correction of track geometry with relocation of track 2;
- Replacement of two turnouts;
- Renewal of the level crossing for track access to the platform (PontiSTRAIL type B-bord);
- Renewal of cable installations, contact lines and safety installations;
- Installation of platform equipment (tactile-visual marking, video surveillance, lighting, etc.);
- Installation of fencing and railings;
- Installation of an additional bicycle shelter;
- Construction of an LHand bus platform;
- Complete conversion of the IS and LV technical rooms;
- aWaterproofing of the existing canopy.
Thanks to a common understanding of the workds and a shared will to work together towards a common goal between all the parties, the line was reopened to rail traffic in September.
