The 3238 meter high Mount Titlis is one of the most popular winter sports and excursion destinations in Switzerland. Due to growing visitor numbers, the expansion project on the summit includes the mountain station, the gallery, the tower and the second lift. The architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron was commissioned to develop the master plan.
First step: expansion of the directional beam tower from the 1960s by adding and extending additional space with a bar and event area, a restaurant and an observation platform.
Second step: replacement of the existing top station with a new building, with the exception of the mountain railroad. The gross area for the five floors (two basement floors and three above-ground floors) totals approximately 1,900 m2.
