Conversion in Rheinacker Basel

Rehabilitation and extension

The Rheinacker development consists of 11 buildings and was built in the late 1950s.
As part of the renovation, the facades and and the roof will be renewed and new balconies will be added. In addition, the buildings B1-B3 buildings will each be raised by two stories in timber construction. The project stipulates that all apartments can remain occupied during the construction work occupied during the construction work and that no structural interventions or reinforcements within the apartments. In spite of the planned lightweight construction of the addition, the existing structure of the buildings B1-B3 is only conditionally able to take up the necessary additional loads. The load transfer of the new floors is carried out via an and a reinforced concrete girder grid, which will be built on top of the highest the top ceiling of the existing building. The chosen load-bearing grid ensures that the loads are distributed evenly over the load-bearing interior and exterior walls of the existing building walls of the existing building as well as the new load-bearing elements in the facades and the stairwells. The cavity between the support grid is used to guide the building services installation lines from the riser zones in the existing building to the riser zones of the new floors.
