Primeo AG planned the new construction of the 150 kV line between Allschwil and Oberwil. In 2021, Gruner was commissioned with the construction management for the section in the Gartenstrasse area. This section posed a challenge as it ran through both the tracks of the Basel transport company and a busy main road.
In order to carry out the construction work efficiently and without disruption, we opted for two special drilling methods. Firstly, we drilled under the Baslerstrasse and the tracks of the Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe by means of down-the-hole drilling. This method makes it possible to drill under existing infrastructure without breaking up the surface over a large area. Secondly, we used the HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) method to drill under the Grabenring, which serves as an important connecting road towards the French border. The advantage of this method is that large distances can be travelled underground without damaging the surface.
The process began with the excavation of start and target pits at the respective end points of the bore route. In a second step, these pits were connected to the drilling methods in order to lay the empty pipes for the new pipeline. This approach ensured that the work could be carried out quickly and precisely without significantly disrupting the flow of traffic or damaging existing infrastructure.
Our services included comprehensive implementation planning as well as construction management and the entire pipeline construction. The project was realised efficiently and successfully thanks to the use of modern technologies and methods.
