Swiss Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival Pratteln in the Baselbiet

The Swiss Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival (ESAF) has been held every three years since 1895 in a different region of Switzerland and is used to practice the Swiss national sports of wrestling, stone throwing and, in some cases, hornussen. The ESAF is the largest recurring sporting event in the country and, in addition to the sporting competition, also has a folk festival character. From August 26 to 28, 2022, the ESAF was held for the first time in its history in the Baselbiet, in the municipality of Pratteln. Around 400,000 visitors were on site during the festival days, creating an atmospheric and peaceful atmosphere. In the largest temporary arena in the world, with almost 51,000 spectators, they were able to follow the exciting competitions until the proclamation of the new wrestling king and enjoy a wide variety of attractive entertainment and gastronomy on the festival grounds around it.

Services Gruner

Gruner supported the organizing committee (OC) of the ESAF Pratteln in the Baselbiet as a wreath partner with consulting and planning services in the areas of risk management, crowd management and evacuation. Our event security specialists prepared the flow of people in and around the festival site, identified potentially critical areas and, together with the OC's security department, defined necessary measures for safe visitor management. We also planned the scenarios relevant to an evacuation, the necessary escape routes and emergency exits for the arena and areas, and the procedures and technical aids for an evacuation in close coordination with the OC and the responsible authorities and organizations in the field of security.
