FC Winterthur has been playing its home games at the Schützenwiese Stadium since 1896, which is highly popular with both the club and its fans. The first major structural change since the main stand was built in 1958 was the opening of a new covered opposite stand in March 2015, designed by the Biel-based architectural firm Sollberger Bögli. Following FC Winterthur's promotion to the Super League for the 2022/23 season, further measures were implemented to prepare the stadium, which has a capacity of around 9,500 spectators, for participation in Switzerland's top football division.
