Activities & Responsibilities

The Underground Space Engineer will be responsible for performing and supervising advanced numerical models for Tunnels and Underground works, particularly focusing on support design for soil/rock/structure interaction, excavation techniques and interaction with reinforced concrete structures. The role involves preparing and coordinating designs for various underground structures. The engineer will contribute to the development of technical specifications, reports, and offer preparations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and supervise advanced 2D and 3D numerical models.
  • Prepare and coordinate structural and excavation designs for underground works.
  • Coordinate the preparation of excavation drawings, support specifications and drafting methodologies for excavation.
  • Participate in the preparation of offers and tender documents for underground space works.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to explain excavation details clearly and efficiently with other specialists involved in Underground works (Ventilation, Mechanical and Electrical works).

Requirements profile

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (M.Eng or MSc. or PhD is an asset).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Underground space engineering.
  • Experience in Underground space related to the design of hydropower and hydrotechnical structures, including dams, tunnels, powerhouses, and related structures.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in French or Italian is an asset.
