Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Activities & Responsibilities
Gruner Stucky, to support the development and the growth of the Italian Department is hiring new motivated engineers, that will be included in a dynamic and multidisciplinary Company already working on some of the most important and challenge international civil projects. Gruner Stucky is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specialized in underground structures.Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and supervise advanced 2D/3D numerical models, particularly in the fields of geotechnics, tunnels, and underground structures for dams and hydropower projects, from early design through to construction.
- Develop and compile design reports.
- Provide drafting instructions and supervise draftsmen/modelers for the finalization of design drawings.
- Prepare tender documents for project bidding.
- Write technical specifications for the execution of the works.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with the contractor(s)’ procedures for Quality Assurance/Quality Control, ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
- Plan and supervise in situ and laboratory testing for soil and rock.
- Contribute to the preparation of proposals, focusing on technical tasks.
- Participate in short-term missions worldwide to support site activities, attend site meetings, and ensure proper project execution.
Requirements profile
- MSc in Civil Engineering (a PhD in Geotechnics is appreciated).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the geotechnical field.
- Proven experience with in situ and laboratory testing and QA/QC management.
- Knowledge of Italian and international geotechnical design standards and guidelines.
- Strong experience in advanced numerical modeling for geotechnical tasks.
- Proficiency in numerical modeling software such as RS2, FLAC, PLAXIS, or similar.
- Good knowledge of the MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details clearly and efficiently to other specialists.
- Fluent in both Italian and English. French is a plus.
