Activities & Responsibilities

  • Preparation of geotechnical designs with special reference to embankment dams and tailing storage facilities, from early-stage design phases to construction.
  • Preparation of drafting instructions and supervision of teams of technicians/modelers to prepare drawings from early to construction design phases.
  • Preparation of Technical Specifications for execution of the Works.
  • Follow-up of procedures implemented on construction sites for Quality Assessment/Quality Check and check of compliance with technical specifications.
  • Lead and conduct embankment safety assessments.
  • Lead and conduct numerical modeling activities for geotechnical problems associated with embankment dams and tailing storage facilities, with specific reference to problems involving earthquake, hydro-mechanical coupling and advanced constitutive modelling.
  • Plan and coordinate laboratory mechanical testing on soil materials.
  • Preparation of tender documents for embankments.
  • Participate in the preparation of engineering offers (methodologies).
  • Short missions abroad to support site activities, attend site meetings, etc.

What makes you special

  • MSc in Civil Engineering – PhD in Geotechnics is greatly appreciated
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Specific experience in embankment dams and tailing storage facilities
  • Consolidated experience in advanced numerical modelling involving geotechnical problems. Knowledge of Finite Element / Finite Difference software such as RS2, FLAC, PLAXIS or similar is required.
  • Experience with laboratory mechanical and QA/QC testing activities.
  • Deep knowledge of International Standards and Guidelines for Dam Design, such as USBR, USACE, FERC and others.
  • Able to communicate in a friendly, clear and efficient way and skilled in explaining technical details.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English is mandatory, French, Italian or German are a plus.
  • Good command of MS office package is required. Active knowledge of AutoCAD is appreciated.
  • Ability and motivation to travel abroad for short assignments.
