Dam Instrumentation Expert
Introduction of the project and job description:
We are looking for an experienced Dam Instrumentation Specialist who is willing to join us in our office in Delhi to strengthen our team on a prestigious The Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) in India.The DRIP Phase-Il and Phase-Ill has been taken up with World Bank assistance for implementation in nineteen States and three Central Agencies including Central Water Commission. The Objective of the Project is to improve the dam safety and operational performance of selected dams of the Country, with emphasis on institutional strengthening with system wide management improvement along with sustainable operation and maintenance. The Project is to be implemented over a period of 10 years, in two phases, with each phase of 6 years duration and an overlap of 2 years over each other.
The Project has four components:
- Rehabilitation and lmprovement of Dams and Associated Appurtenances;
- Dam Safety lnstitutional Strengthening;
- Incidental Revenue Generation for sustainable operation and maintenance of dams;
- Project Management.
- to improve the safety and performance of selected existing dams and associated appurtenances in a sustainable manner;
- to strengthen the dam safety institutional setup in participating States as well as at Central level.
Detailed job description:
- Nodal expert for overall coordination and implementation of DHARMA after DTL and TL;
- review of all instrumentation action plans given in ali Project Screening Templates (PSTs);
- finalization of these plans in respect of instrumentation, SCADA, Surveillance and Control System;
- all technical support for establishment of Centralized Control and Command Centre in various State capitals;
- individual control rooms at various DRIP dams, data collection, transmission, processing and analysis with outcome reports protocols to be finalized;
- O&M of established instrumentation in any particular dam;
- ensure ail necessary technical hardware, software and data transmission in any instrumentation plan designed or received from DRlP IAs;
- preparation of technical bid documents on need basis especially the bill of quantities and technical specifications, type of instruments w.r.t. type of a dam, qualifying criteria, third party CS&QA inspections, transmittals, capacity building of DRlP lAs;
- customized training programs at various levels for lAs;
- to be one of contributor in revision of existing guidelines, formulation of new guidelines, to give ali inputs to be put in National Website for dam safety information, and MIS system, development of in-house expertise of select Academie Institutes, Training Calendar for DHARMA implementation, as well as customized training programs related to Instrumentation and Monitoring system to be given for annual DRIP Calendar;
- need based inspection of DRlP dams, to accompany any central DSRP panels formed for any special safety issues, any other DRlP related activity assigned by Project Director DRlP, CWC etc.
Dam Instrumentation and Monitoring Specialist requirements:
- should have a degree in any branch of engineering;
- at least of 10 years in planning of instrumentations, technical specifications of instruments, SCADA, Surveillance, Control System, and automation in dams, data analysis, preparation of instrumentation plan of dams, work supervision of installation and commissioning of dam instrumentation etc. in minimum 3 large dams.
